Love Letters Toronto 2010

There are some great images I have the pleasure of sharing thanks to the brilliant work of photographer Robert J. Brodey. Thanks to Love Letters participant Anne Mandlsohn for bringing him to the show and for sharing these photographs with me. This exhibition was made possible with the support of WIA Projects and their brilliant symposium, Performing Feminist Culture, their great team who were in touch with me leading up to the show (Pam, Stephanie, Maggie, et al.) and the very accommodating staff at XPACE Cultural Centre.

In the coming weeks I'll post the exciting news about future exhibitions, and how Women's Studies programs and Love Letter-ers are finding creative ways to be involved in the project.

WIA projects' Symposium Approaches!

Tomorrow I will be spending the day installing Love Letters at XPACE Cultural Centre in Toronto (58 Ossington Avenue), and the exhibition will be on display until Saturday, November 6th. I am so excited to be part of this Symposium, and share the great letters that have been arriving in my mailbox in the past few weeks.

Please come celebrate with me at XPACE on Friday, November 5th from 5-8pm. On top of some fantastic mail art, there will be a performance by Leena Raudvee and Erika DeFreitas at 6:30, so don't miss it!

Here's the facebook invite for the party. Hope you can make it!

Love Letters in Montreal

Last Saturday, Love Letters to Feminism was dusted off and exhibited at Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Montreal. I was invited to show it as part of the Canandian Women's Studies Association Conference, and what a lovely experience it was. Here are some pictures from this most recent incarnation of the show:

Updating the Mail

Hi Lovers,

Such exciting news to share with you!

First:

You may have noticed my lack of follow-through on the promise to turn this blog into an online gallery. I've been pursuing some other exhibition opportunities, and I'm pleased to inform you that a very exciting one has materialized.

Thanks to the support of the Women's Studies Program at the University of Alberta, namely Professor Dr. Meagher, Love Letters to Feminism will be exhibited in some incarnation during the Canadian Women's Studies Association Conference in Montreal, which runs from May 29-31. Make sure to watch the blog to find out about viewing opportunities if you are going to be in town for the conference or for the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences Conference.

Second:

If you happen to be an alumni of the University of Alberta's Faculty of Arts, check out your own mailboxes for a bit of Love Letters. This spring Work of Art magazine, the arts alumni publication, features a story about the project. Keep your eyes peeled. And if that article is what brings you to the blog, welcome! Make sure you check the posts from the archives to see more images from Love Letters' exhibition.

The love for feminism continues. Thanks for being a part of it.
